Sworn translations of a driving licence are a very common type of translation for submission to official bodies and institutions.<\/p>

This official document entitles a citizen to drive a specific vehicle and is issued in Spain by the Directorate-General for Road Traffic<\/a> <\/span>(DGT-Spanish acronym), which regulates all aspects of obtaining the licence.<\/p>

It is issued in card format including the holder\u2019s personal data as well as the category of vehicles he\/she is allowed to drive. In Spain there are ten different types of driving licence according to the type of vehicle.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

When is a sworn translation of a driving licence<\/span> required?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Generally, in order to be able to drive abroad or in Spain with a driving licence that was not issued in the country in which you are driving, a sworn translation of the licence is required.<\/p>

A foreigner in Spain can drive with his or her own licence for a maximum of six months,<\/strong> but if it is in another language, a sworn translation is compulsory.<\/p>

This legislation varies depending on the country you are in,<\/strong> but it is always advisable to have a sworn translation of your driving licence at hand to avoid any administrative problems with the traffic authorities.<\/p>

You can check the requirements for the validity of your driving licence in Spain at the Direcci\u00f3n General de Tr\u00e1fico.<\/p>

These sworn translations must be translated by translators appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to guarantee their veracity and legality before any official body.<\/p>
